About This Activity
When you join Run for Babies, you give hope to nearly half a million babies born too soon each year. Held in conjunction with our annual March for Babies, Run for Babies and March for Babies bring together thousands of people from your community to support programs that help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies. And it funds research to find answers to the problems that threaten our babies. There are opportunities for running as an individual or running with a team! See the Event Information page for more information. Run for Babies takes place before the March for Babies walk begins. It is a great event for family, friends and coworkers. It is a great venue for a family picnic or corporate retreat. There will be family friendly activities such as playscapes, moon bounces, petting zoo, face painters, and games. There will also be food trucks and treats!
Event details and schedule
This event is an exciting addition to March of Dimes signature event, March for Babies. By participating in Run for Babies you are helping moms have healthy, full-term babies as well as funding research to find why prematurity occurs and preventions to keep it from happening. This competitive event will use chip timing to determine race results.
The run takes place before the walk, and we invite runners to stay and join the festivities. Following the walk, there will be family-friendly activities including face painters, petting zoo, food trucks and games.
This is a 5K run through Old Settlers Park. The route is all-terrain and includes rocky and grassy paths. Walkers in March for Babies will start at 10:00a.m. along the same route.
Parking is complimentary and located right at the walk site.
All registered participants will receive an event t-shirt, race number and chip timer.
Medals will be awarded to:
Top Male and Top Female
Top Male and Female in age groups: 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79,80+
We know how competitive our local community is when it comes to 5K running events. That is why we created the Team Challenge. The challenge allows groups of individuals or companies to compete for the Run for Babies Team Challenge trophy.
How it works:
Create a Team Challenge team at www.runforbabies.org. The first person to register for the team needs to create the team.
There is a minimum of at least 10 runners to be considered a Team Challenge team. Teams can be made up of employees from a company and/or family and friends. There is no maximum number of run team members. Members can be mixed gender teams.
Recruit your running friends to sign up on your team.
The cumulative finish times of the fastest 5 runners from each team are averaged to create a team time.
The Team Challenge team with the lowest average score wins the trophy.
Benefits for Team Challenge Teams:
Compete to be the fastest Run for Babies Team
Teams of 20 or more will receive the option to pick up their group’s packets early
Teams of 20 or more will be highlighted in a social media post.
Team Challenge – Trophy for team with lowest average time of top 5 runners
Teams must be registered and have 10 members recruited by April 30, 2015 to qualify as a Team Challenge team.
All Team Challenge runners are also eligible for individual medals.
