About This Activity
The Wild Run starts on East Pennsylvania in Roslyn. It promises to have beautiful starting line photographs with Roslyn’s historic downtown at our backs. The race goes for a city block--which will allow runners and walkers to spread out--before picking up the Coal Mines Trail where three can comfortably run side by side. The Coal Mines Trail is tree-lined, level and well maintained. It consists of crushed rock which has more give than asphalt and is a little easier on your body. This stretch of the trail is also all downhill. Not a precipitous, quad thrashing, joint rattling downhill plunge--instead it will just feel...like happiness--with a mild 313 feet of elevation loss, (and zero elevation gain) over the 5K course. The wind this time of year would typically be at our backs. So, with mild morning temperatures along a shaded course, a possible tail wind and a gradual downhill, everything favors a fast, fun race. The Wild Run should be a great scenic course to try for your personal-best time! An out-and-back leg was added to the 5K course to challenge10K runners. There will be water stations on the course, refreshments after the race and ribbons for the top male and female finishers and division winners. We should be wrapping up just about the time the Roslyn Farmer’s Market opens up around us and live music begins--which is fun. Entrants registering before August 21st are guaranteed a tie-dye Wild Run t-shirt crafted with care by Roslyn Rags! Even if you only wear tie-dye to Disneyland and on the 4th of July--you have to admit this will make a fun and unique addition to your collection. The proceeds from the race will support local art programs. For more information visit rtowncommunity.org and look under projects.
