About This Activity
TritonKids is a youth triathlon event brought to you by Triton Events and Med City Aquatics. This year's event will take place at the Rochester REC Center and will offer a unique, safe and challenging event for kids ages 6-17. The swim will take place in the safe environment of the REC Center's swimming pool while the bike and run will transition onto West River Pkwy. The race is a USAT sanctioned event and will be chip timed. Food and refreshments will be provided for all athletes.
All competitors will receive a custom TritonKids finisher medal along with a custom TritonKids heathered Gilden Softstyle t-shirt and pre-race goody bag. Age group medals will be awarded to the top 3 male and female athletes in each age group.
Age Groups & Distances
Ages 6-8 (50 meter swim, 2 mile bike, 500 yard run)
Ages 9-11 (150 meter swim, 4 mile bike, 1 mile run)
Ages 12-14 (250 meter swim, 6 mile bike, 2 mile run)
Ages 15-17 (350 meter swim, 8 mile bike, 2 mile run)
*Age group is based on the athlete's age as of 12/31/2014
Indoor pool swim in an 8 lane 50 meter pool. Age group waves of sixteen with two swimmers per lane.
Competitors will all start from the deep end of the pool and exit in the shallow end.
No wetsuits will be allowed.
All competitors must wear the provided race swim cap
All competitors must start in their assigned swim wave
Competitors must wear proper attire for the swim or race and provide their own goggles.
Life guards will be present during the swim.
The bike portion will be an out and back, which will follow north on the West River Pkwy bike lane and return on the bike/run path of West River Pkwy.
All bikers should stay to the far right hand side of the bike lane and bike/run path.
All bikers will continue this loop depending on distance required by age group.
NO triathlon or time trial bikes with aero bars are permitted.
All bikers should come prepared with bike, helmet and proper gear.
Rochester Cycling will be on site to provide any race day maintenance
