About This Activity

ONLINE RACE REGISTRATION ENDS AT MIDNIGHT TODAY, MAY 1! The Hopecam 5K Run/Walk is a USATF certified race—fast and flat for those wanting to set a personal best record.  This is also the perfect race for families featuring an easy course for runners and walkers of all ages.

This year's race features a Wheel Chair Division that includes both push rim and hand cycle.   Medals given to fastest individual adult male and female; fastest teen male and female (ages 13 to 18), and fastest child 12 and under.  Special team trophies for greatest amount raised by school and organization/corporate teams. Prizes for all participants raising $100 or more.  Special award for individual who raises most to connect children to life.

Among the first side effects that happens to a child diagnosed with cancer is being isolated from their friends and school.  Hopecam, a Reston-based 501c3 non-profit charity, uses technology to keep children connected while undergoing treatment, helping to overcome their social isolation.  Hopecam provides tablet computers, webcams, Internet connections, technical support and works with schools to facilitate and secure their participation in connecting with the child—all free thanks to the generosity of donors.

In 2014 Hopecam expects to help over 300 children with cancer at a cost of about $1,200 per child!  Your financial support is needed more than ever.
