About This Activity

Come join us in kicking off the Great Downtown Pumpkin Festival on Saturday September 27.  The Rapid City Evening Rotary Club presents the first ever Pumpkin Run 5K and Family Fun Run/Walk.  Net proceeds from this event will go to supporting Storybook Island a local park that is free for the public.  This fun event will take place on Saturday September 27 at 8:00 AM.  Runners and Walkers are to meet at the Band Shell in Memorial Park.  Registration will be 7:00-8:30.  The 5K will start at 8:00 AM and the Family 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk will begin at 8:30.  Costumes –especially fairy tale or nursery rhyme costumes – are welcome and encouraged!  Dress as your favorite Storybook Island characters.  Prizes for the best costumes will be awarded at 8:50, following the Family Fun/Run.

All 5K registrants that register before September 13 will receive a complementary t-shirt with their registration.  Fun Run/Walk Registrants can opt to pay a participation only fee or register to receive a t-shirt as well.  Any participants wishing to receive the event t-shirt must register by September 13.  Prices for this exiciting event are as follows:

  • $25 for the 5K
  • $15 for Fun Run/Walk w/complementary t-shirt
  • $7 for Fun Run/Walk participants

Course Information:

Registration will start at the Bandshell in Memorial Park and the registrants will be directed to the start line.  The course will follow the 5K Loop on the bike trail from the Memorial Park Band Shell to 10 yards past Abourezk Law Firm and then will return to Memorial Park. 

Arrival Information:  Be sure to turn in your signed waiver and sign-in at the registration table in the band shell. 

Parking info:  Parking will be available at the Civic Center or for those continuing on to the pumpkin festival following the 5K you may want to find a downtown parking spot and walk over to Memorial Park from there. 

Waivers and ID:  Please bring your signed waivers to turn in the day of the race. 

What to bring:  comfortable running shoes and clothes, sunscreen, etc.

What to wear:  come in costume - prizes will be awarded to the best costumes

Remember you must be registered prior to September 13 to receive the complementary T-shirt.
