About This Activity

The Special Operators Challenge (SOC) was founded by U.S. Military Veterans as a way to aid local charities and honor our fallen, military, law enforcement and fire fighters.

The Special Operators Challenge will be hosting their three race events at The Carolina Horse Park, Raeford, NC:

The Little Muddy 1/2 Mile OR 1 Mile Kids' Run: The Little Muddy 1 Mile and 1/2 mile is for kids ages 5+. The 1 mile run starts at 8:00 AM.  The 1/2 mile run starts at 8:30 AM. A Registered parent/adult may run free with child challengers. This event will be a mini race with horse park obstacles and a few added surprises. All child challengers will receive a moisture wicking race t-shirt, finisher medal uniquely designed for their event, and free prize raffle ticket.

The Boomerang 5K Run: A 5K Track and Obstacle style run with the added challenge of a few beers and a bratwurst. Challengers must be 18 years or older on race day. Challengers must be 21 years of age to consume alcoholic beverages at the event. Substitutions will be made for challengers under the age of 21 or any non-drinkers. Challengers will complete multiple laps around the Carolina Horse park track, drinking a beer/beverage at the start of the 1st and last lap and eating a foot long bratwurst in the middle. It's called The Boomerang for a reason!  ** Please note, all prices will increase as the race draws closer so be sure to purchase your ticket early and save money!  Participants may register as a team or individually.  Please make sure if you are wishing to participate as a team you create a team name and captain.  All team members should register under the same team name.  If selecting the pre-pay option to pay for yourself and other members of your team, the number of team members you select means the number of team members besides yourself you will pay for at checkout.  For example, the team captain wishes to pay for registration for themself and 2 other team members.  In the "number of team members" blank the team captain would enter "2" so that they are paying for 3 total people at checkout.

The Muddy Nick 10 K Resilience Run:

Mud... Dirt... Unsurmontable Feats...

Challenge yourself in ways unique to the Special Operators Challenge Events with our 10K resilience run.  Filled with mud, dirt, water, and military style challenges on a course that takes you through the rugged terrain of The Carolina Horse Park.  The Muddy Nick is not for the faint of heart or weak of spirit. Be prepared... to get dirty, work hard, and challenge yourself at the event of a lifetime.

** Please note: There are two waves of The Muddy Nick 10K.  The COMPETITOR'S wave starting at 10:00 AM is a team event.  Each team must consist of 2 participants. Individuals will not be allowed to compete in the competitor's wave.  Spots for this wave will be limited to 15 teams. Teams will be competing for the amazing prize of two Remington shotguns. The fastest team to successfully complete the course in the COMPETITOR'S Wave will win the shotguns.

***The CHALLENGER'S Wave starting at 10:30 AM will be open to all individuals, as well as teams.  Please make sure that when registering for a team you select team registration and that all members of your team register under the same team name. The start time for The Muddy Nick 10K will be in fifteen minute intervals.  Each smaller wave will include approximately 75 participants.  As an example, if your Muddy Nick start time is 10:30, you may start in the 10:30. 10:45, 11:00, or 11:15 wave.  There will be no more than 75 race participants per wave.

** Please note, all prices will increase as the race draws closer so be sure to purchase your ticket early and save money!

PARKING AND ADMISSION

Are you looking for a way to give back to the community through more than just your registration fee?  SOC provides participants and spectators with many opportunities throughout our event day to give back to those in need.  One way is through a food drive.  At SOC events our parking and spectator admission are free.  All we ask is that you donate a minimum of 2 cans of non-perishable, non-expired food items as your cost of parking and admission.  All donated items will be given to a local food bank

PASS BANDS:

Additionally, each of our supporting charities will have pass bands available for purchase, $5.00, cash only.  These bands will be sold on race day.  100% of the proceeds will go directly to the supporting charity.  These bands allow you to bypass an obstacle during any of the SOC events.  Think you need a little extra help on race day?  Buy a few and know that you are helping out someone more than yourself.

CLOTHING DRIVE

Don't want to go home muddy?  Special Operators Challenge has a solution- one that lets you give back to others and go home clean.  At the end of your race donate your dirty, muddy, or wet clothing to our clothing drive and know you are helping someone else out.  You can also bring any additional, unwanted clothing items to donate as well.  SOC will wash all donations and given them to a local clothing outreach.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/REMINDERS:

* Please remember that all participants and spectators must sign a Special Operators Challenge Release of Liability and Waiver and must present a valid photo I.D.  No one will be allowed entrance to the park without these items.  Those under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

** It is our recommendation to wear proper footwear, eye protection, and gloves.  Challengers may be in contact with obstacles, mud, water, or the ground at any time during the event. SOC is not responsible for the loss, damage or theft of any personal items, valuables, electronics, or property that you wear on the course or bring into the event venue.
