About This Activity
Get ready to run (or walk) wild! Join us at the Racine Zoo for our inagural Wild 5K Run/Walk for the Animals at our beautiful lakefront location in Downtown Racine. All proceeds from the event benefit the animals of the Racine Zoo.
Each registration includes: -Event t-shirt -Free post-race refreshments -Free admission to World Rhino Day celebration from 9AM to 6PM
All participants should report to the Zoo's Augusta Street entrance by 6:30 AM. Please be sure to have a photo ID to pick up your registration packet. No pets are allowed on Zoo campus unless it is a certified service dog. Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome but please, no skateboards, rollerskates, or bicycles. Free parking is available on the corner of Walton and North Wisconsin plus a small lot adjacent to the Zoo as well as street parking.
Pre-Run/Walk Warm Up:
A half-hour warm up period is scheduled from 7-7:30 AM. Participants should check-in prior to warm up.
Ready to Run/Walk:
Runners and walkers will begin at 8 AM at the conclusion of a brief opening ceremony.
The first 4.4 km will be run/walked on the path along Lake Michigan that runs adjacent to the Zoo. The last 0.6 km will run/walked inside the Zoo. One snack and water station will be available along the route.
The race will conclude on the lawn in front of the Kiwanis Memorial Amphitheatre where a post-race celebration will be held with music and refreshments. Participants are welcome to stay and enjoy World Rhino Day at the Zoo!
