Hi, we’re spreading the word that the 6th Annual Cause 4 Paws Run & Walk is being held on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at DCRs scenic Squantum Point Park, Marina Bay.

The Cause 4 Paws (C4P) is one of Quincy Animal Shelter’s favorite fundraising events which includes a 5K Run, a 1 Mile Dog Walk, a dog agility course for your 4 footed friend, Quincy Police’s K9 demonstration, raffles, prizes, vendors, refreshments, a professional pet photographer booth and more. This is a rain or shine event with close to 300 participants attending last year; we’re hoping to see our participation numbers grow this year. Each person who registers by October 1st will receive a commemorative Cause 4 Paws T-shirt.

The run start time is 10 am with the route going out of Marina Bay weaving through picturesque Squantum and back to the starting point. The runners will be following a route that was designed by Don Allison, QAS volunteer and former runner. This is a USATF professionally timed race. There will be prizes awarded to the fastest male and female runner as well as to the fastest in each age group.

The dog walk starts at 10:15 am, leaves the registration area and winds through DCRs Squantum Park Point and returns to the starting point. There will be water stations along the route to ensure no one gets thirsty. We welcome all dogs that enjoy the company of other dogs. Please be sure your dog is leashed, licensed, in good physical condition and up to date on all vaccinations. Please leave cats and small animals safely and comfortably at home.

We have something special this year for our 4 legged participants. A prize will be awarded to the dog in the best Halloween or Celebrity Look Alike costume.

All proceeds raised at this event, as with all of our fundraising efforts, will be used for the direct care and adoption of Shelter cats and dogs, including the cost of food, medications, medical examinations and training.

The Quincy Animal Shelter is a volunteer-run organization focusing on the care and humane treatment of the city’s homeless canine and feline population.  The Shelter relies completely on our volunteers and the community for support.  Incorporated in 1999, as a non-profit Massachusetts charity, we are also a recognized charity under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. For more information, visit the QAS website at or call us at 617-376-1349.
