About This Activity

The Lunatic Triathlon was first established in 2010 as a unique and fun way to enjoy a Sprint Distance Triathlon at night.  Each year we pick a race night with a full, or nearly full, moon and host a triathlon in the city of Price Utah. Our name "The Lunatic" comes not only from our decision to host it at night, making it a Luner Triathlon, but also because we do not follow the traditional order of the event.  In most triathlons you will follow the traditional swim, bike, run format. We begin The Lunatic Triathlon with a 5K run thru the well lit city streets of Price, followed by a 9 mile bike ride through Price City and Carbon County Strrets under the supervision of our amazing Price City Police and Carbon County Sheriffs Departments, and then ending with a 300 yard swim in the Price City Desert Wave Pool. The swim is supervised by lifeguards as you swim in a serpintine pattern through the 6 lanes of the outdoor pool until you cross our finish line. All participants are required to either wear a headlamp, or have a flashlight or headlight mounted to their bike for the bike leg of the triathlon. Participants are encouraged to wear light colored and reflective clothing to help increase their visibility while participating. We will be providing free glow sticks for runners and bikers to use to decorate themselves and their bikes for the event.

Event schedule and times

All participants registered for The Lunatic Triathlon prior to April 1, 2014 will recieve a FREE LUNATIC IN TRAINING Tee Shirt. On April 1, 2014 will be review all the submitted registrations, and mail each person their free shirt, please feel free to wear this shirt during the months leading up to race night so your friends and family can support you in your training for The Lunatic Triathlon. The 2014 Lunatic Triathlon will begin promptly at 10:00 pm. Packet Pick up will begin at 7:00 pm in front of the Price City Desert Wave Pool. Also at 7:00 pm we will open up the transition area so you can pick your spot and set up your equipment. The transition area will be in full view of the packet pick up area, but we will not be patrolling the transition area until the begining of the race. Up until the start of the race you will be responsible for watching your own equipment. Once the race begins no spectators will be allowed within the transition area and we will have volunteers monitoring the area as well as your equipment. We recommend that all participants not familiar with our course to go to our website and print off a copy of the course map and familairize yourself with it. Course Maps will be available at the packet pick up as well. Take the time to drive the course in advance and prepare yourself for the run and the bike portions. For additional race details leading up till race night you can check out our wesbite or "like" us on Facebook for additional information and tips.
