About This Activity

New City Initiative is organizing this event to create awareness around the crisis of child homelessness in our region, and to raise funds to help end this terrible problem in our community. At the last Point in Time Count, there were 2,225 children experiencing homelessness in Multnomah County. That's enough to fill every classroom in five elementary schools. You can help change this!

On October 31, we will hold a 5K run and a family-friendly .8 mile walk at Mt. Tabor Park. The walk will consist of 2,225 steps, one step for every child experiencing homelessness in our county. To learn more about the event, visit www.crowdrise.com/RacetoEndChildHomelessness. You can register for the event, set up your own team, and fundraise for the cause. All funds raised through this event will be dedicated to preventing child homelessness, including eviction prevention and other support for families experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
