About This Activity

Join us on Saturday, October 19th, 2019 (rain or shine) for the 5k run/walk fundraiser for both beginners and advanced runners alike, hosted in the heart of historic Portage, Wisconsin. The S.O.S. run/walk is officially timed with prizes for overall winners.  Start your weekend with a morning dash, a casual jaunt, or just a refreshing walk. It’s a great way for supporting recovery and showing that it is possible!

Please help us in the effort to destigmatize addiction and help raise awareness that addiction is an illness, not a character flaw or lack of will-power. Substance use disorder is emotional and that emotional journey is subject to social stigma. The connections between mental health, social services, the criminal justice system and addiction treatment providers have not been strong enough. Substance use disorder has long been shrouded in stigma and as a result, people in need have been judged, punished, or ignored. The S.O.S. 5k run/walk is an event designed to raise funds to contribute to the development of programs and services for people who are recovering from substance use and mental health disorders. This event is organized by two organizations rooted in the same cause - Just Listen Inc. and Satori House, facilitating positive living programming and events in support of recovery and prevention of substance use, crime and anything else that inhibits people from leading healthy, fulfilling lives.  Even the smallest donations make an impact. All proceeds from this event will benefit programming for Just Listen Inc., a registered 501(c)(3), in a collaborative partnership with Satori House.

Registration opens at 10 am and the start of the 5K Run/Walk (for men, women, and children) is at 11 am
