About This Activity

RVRR’s ‘Train’ing Run is a non-competitive group run held on National Trails Day to benefit the newly re-named Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, with a $.50 donation for every mile we run or walk!

Run part, or all, of the 34.6 mile D&R towpath together in a group! The ‘trains’ ( runners) depart from Trenton and make their way at pre-determined paces toward their destination station, Johnson Park, in New Brunswick. The train stops at each ‘station’ along the way to pick up other passengers (runners or walkers). All... trains are scheduled to reach their destination at the same time. Snacks, water, Gatorade and support provided along the trail. Feel the power of the group as you enter Johnson Park as one!

Run is done by 11am and we picnic and party till 3 or 4pm. Picnic includes hot and cold food, as well as beer, sangria, soda and water. Ice cream was a big hit last year!!Food and drinks and donation to Rutgers Cancer Institute included in registration fee.

Registration is encouraged by May 17th.

Additional buses added this year-taking runners out to the towpath. New this year is bus transportation from grove 4 to Alexander Rd in Princeton. This 26.2 mile run allows you to run the marathon distance at a training pace- with company and support!! Additional pacers added to keep runners on schedule. New for this year is start and finish in grove 4 in Johnson Park. We will have access to hundreds of parking spots. We will also support runners at a 12 minute pace from South Bound Brook and walkers at a 15 minute pace, also from South Bound Brook. Walk the last 6 miles of this event and finish at the same time as those who started at Trenton and ran 34.5 miles. Imagine 200 runners and walkers finishing as one!!
