About This Activity
Race 2 Cure Diabetes 5K (9am) 5K Relay (3 Person team) (9:15am) & 1 Mile Sprint (10:15am) @ Rose Mofford Park at 9833 N 25th Ave, Phx AZ 85021 on 11.21.15.
The 4th Annual Race 2 Cure Diabetes @ 9AM 5K, 5K Relay 915am and 10:5AM 1 Mile Sprint. Choose to do the regular 5K run/walk or the unique 5K Relay. Find 3 of your running buddies and create a team, each member of the team will run a 1 Mile Leg and the time for each will be added up. Relay teams will use a chip timed baton to record their time. This is a charity event with portion of the proceeds benefiting the American Diabetes Association. 5K Run/Walk; 1 Mile Sprint is open to kid's and adults and is open for registration. Each participant will receive a cool race shirt.
Medals will be awarded to the top 3 Male/Female finishers for the following categories: 15 & under; 16-20; 21-30; 31-40; 41-50; 51-60; 61-70 & 71 & over.
Medals for the Top 3 Relay Teams.
Registration & packet pick up will be on Race Day (11.21.14) starting at 730-845am.
Race 2 Cure Diabetes is a pet friendly, stroller and wheelchair event. Most of the course is flat and paved however there is a portion that is a dirt trail.
Race to be timed.
The is sanctioned by USA Track & Field Association.
Event details and schedule
My father is the motivation for this charity race event. He suffered with Diabetes for over 30 years. He was on dialysis for 8 years. He succumbed to the disease on April 16, 2012. Diabetes slowly deteriorates the body affecting the kidneys and eventually the heart. Much research needs to be conducted in order to better understand the disease.
