About This Activity

The first ever Petrified Forest Marathon takes place on a scenic, point-to-point course during the cool fall air. It starts on the north end of the Petrified Forest National Park and, goes straight south winding through the park to the south end. The road through the Petrified Forest National Park is 28 miles long and is ideal for a Marathon.
There are only 125 spots available for our innagural race so register now before all the spots are gone.

Event schedule and times

The inagural Petrified Forest Marathon will take place on November 1st 2014. The race will start at 7:00AM from the north end of the park and finish at the south end. You will park your cars at the south end and be bussed to the north end for the start of the race. The busses will load at 5:00AM from the South Parking Lot. Parking is limited so carpooling is encouraged.

The course has lots of small hills and has a net altidue loss of about 400 Feet from the start to the finish. Their will be 16 aid stations along the route. (See Map

Packet pick up will take place on Friday Oct. 31st at the Navajo County Fairgrounds in Holbrook, AZ. There will be a spaghetti dinner available for purchase wich will bennefit a local youth basketball group. They will also have a trunk or treat with a few activiteis for kids if you want to bring you family along. If you can not make it on Friday to pick up your packet and need to pick it up Saturday morning please let us know in advance.

The weather this time of year has an average high of 65 and and average low of 33 so it is very comparable to the St. George Marathon so plan accordingly.
