About This Activity
The Azalea Blossom Festival 5K Color Fun Run/Walk will be a 5K event of flying colors, healthy exercise and FUN! Whether you are an experienced runner, just want to come for a good time or somewhere in between, our color run is for everyone ofall ages! This is a non-competitive event to encourage fun with family and friends. We will not be timing the event but you will have “the time of your life!” First, you need to come in all white clothing (We suggest wearing items that you wouldn't mind getting the color on) and we totally encourage costumes! At the start, you will be sprinkled with a multitude of colors. As you pass each kilometer, volunteers will “anoint” you with another color. By the end, you will be a colorfulmasterpiece!
Make sure to join the pre-run party festivities with family-friendly activities at the TRICAP office. After the race, stick around for at downtown Petersburg for the rest of the Azalea Blossom Festival! (see the Chamber's website for a full list of activities http://www.pikecountyin.org/)
Make sure to register your children so they can join in the fun. All participants registered by the deadline will be guaranteed an official Azalea Blossom Festival Color Fun Run/Walk white t-shirt to wear at the event.
Worried about making a mess? Well, don’t be! Our color powder is made in the USA and from food grade quality cornstarch. It is non-toxic, 100% safe, and biodegradable. You may want to bring glasses or goggles for your eyes and/or mask or bandana for your mouth if you are sensitive. If you want a lot of color, plan to run or walk closer to the color throwers. The color does mostly wash out after the event, but some of it can stain. The sooner you wash it the better.
This color run benefits TRI-CAP’s family and community lefted programs and Pike County Chamber of Commerce’s ongoing effort to improve our community and local businesses.

Event details and schedule
T-shirt pick up begins at 8:30am EST as well as pre-race activities for the family.
Colors will fly and start run/walk at 9:30am EST
"Best Costume" and "Best Colored" Contests after everyone finishes (likely 1 hour)
Make sure to plan to stay after the run/walk for the remainder of the Azalea Blossom Festival. The car and tractor show starts at 10:00am EST along with craft show, farmer's market and vendor tables.
Course will be easily marked and will begin and end at TRI-CAP 809 E Illinois Street Petersburg IN 47567
Course is stroller friendly and consists of all paved road.
Local police officials will be managing traffic so we can have a safe, fun event.
Remember this is a fun event so we will not be using an official timing. If you would like to race, please feel free to use your own watch. If that's your kind of fun, DO IT! For the non fierce competitors, remember to bring comfort shoes...you will be walking 3.1 miles :)
Available in local lots surrounding the TRI-CAP office. If you decide to park in the old Pamida lot, please be careful crossing the highway.
What to Wear
Try to dress in as much white as possible if you want fully colored. We will hand out the official t-shirts prior to the race if you would like to wear this tee. Or if you want to design your own costume, DO IT! The brighter...the better!
Families are welcome
We are encouraging families to do this healthy exercise together. We do ask that everyone registers. Strollers are welcome.
What happens if it rains?
As long as local officials say we can go, we will have fun in the rain!
Why do you have to register your children and what's up with this Service Charge?
Sorry about that! We need an accurate count of how many people will be at our event so we can supply the efficient amount of everything for our participants. The service charge is due to you registering online. If you would like to avoid this, please pick up a registration form from TRI-CAP and fill it out. Wish we didn't have to do it, but somehow we have to pay for all this fun!
