About This Activity

This is the Third Annual Swamp Creek Stomp 5K Trail Run. The trail flows through two park sections of approximately 100 acres, Bob Wayland Memorial Park and Constable Charles Spellhoffer Memorial Park at Swamp Creek. This is not a typical boring 5K; it has some muddy areas, some technical areas, several creek crossings, some short hills, tree roots, logs, vines, some open fields, beautiful scenery and lots of fun. The run starts out with some open field to spread everyone out. Then you hit a little bit of mud, but don't worry, it will get washed off as you Stomp thru the Swamp Creek. It gets a little technical as you run along the the "Old Mill Race" then back thru the Swamp Creek. You run thru some open area at Constable Charles Spellhoffer Memorial Park at Swamp Creek, then hit some more woods. After crossing the "Dirt Road" it gets a little technical again as you head toward the "Tunnel of Pines" and make a quick decent to another stream crossing. Some short hills and the "Twisted Tree" let you know the end is near. As you break out of the woods you will find some open area to sprint before the finish line at the top of the hill! The trail is challenging and lots of fun!

Prizes will be awarded to the Mens and Womens over all winners, first, second and third place for both men and women in each age group.

T-Shirts will given to all pre-registered runners. Shirts will be available the day of the race while they last.

There will be a fun run for kids 11 and under immediately following the "Stomp". A parent or legal guardian must sign a waiver the day of the race. There is no charge for the fun run.

All of the proceeds benefit the Upper Frederick Park and Recreation Department. The UFPRD is committed to preserving the parks, building new trails and making as many improvements as possible.
