About This Activity

Come join us for the the inaugural Forever Young Run in Phoenix Arizona on Sunday, April 19, 2105 at the Peoria Sports Complex. The 3N1 course offers beautiful tree lined city streets, a short journey on the 101 Freeway, finishing up as a nature run along the New River Trail. Along your running trek, you will be entertained by themed Entertainment Zones throughout the course. For those competitors, the course is a USATF Certified course. EVENT DAY SCHEDULE

  • DATE: Sunday, April 19th, 2015
  • START TIMES:
    • 7:00am – Half Marathon
    • 7:30am – 10K Run
    • 8:00am – 5K Run
  • RACE LOCATION: Peoria Sports Complex (16101 N 83rd Ave, Peoria, AZ 85382)
  • PARKING: Free parking at the Peoria Sports Complex  (https://peoriasportscomplex.com/sportscontent5.aspx?id=29882).
  • AVERAGE TEMPERATURE & RAINFALL ON RACE DAY: Average Temperature is 69 Degrees. Average Low 56. Average High 82.  Average Rainfall is 0.33 inches
  • STARTING LINES: All races begin at the same starting line at the Peoria Sports Complex.  You will be assigned a Corral Number, indicated by the first number of your race bib.  For example, if your bib number is 5644, you will start in corral number 5 at the starting line. Don’t stress, the Corrals will be clearly marked and Race Ambassadors will be at each Corral to assist you as needed.
  • FINISH LINES: All races will finish at the Peoria Sports Complex.
  • GEAR DROPOFF OR PICKUP. Before your race begins, please remember to drop off your extra clothing and personal articles at the “Gear Drop Off” within walking distance of the Starting Line at the Peoria Sports Complex. We will take the utmost care with all items left at the gear drop areas, but please DO NOT put valuables or expensive items like cameras, car and house keys, cell phones, money, GPS devices, etc. in the gear drop bags. We are not responsible for lost items!

PACKET PICKUP

Sports Authority will be hosting the Forever Young Run packet pickup.  All registered participants are required to bring their picture ID and signed Forever Young Run waiver to pick up their packets prior to race day on Sunday. Packet contents includes your race bib, shirt, goodie bag and promotional give-a-way items.  Though we highly encourage all participants to pick up their running packet prior to the race date, we will have packet pickup available on race day starting at 5:00am at the Peoria Sports Complex on Sunday, April 19, 2015.  See below for dates, time and location details.

    • Friday & Saturday: Sports Authority located at 7360 W Bell Road, Glendale, AZ 85308.
    • Sunday: Peoria Sports Complex at 16101 N 83rd Ave, Peoria, AZ 85382
  • PARKING: Parking is Free at the Sports Authority facility & Peoria Sports Complex.
  • REQUIREMENTS: Must bring photo ID and signed Forever Young Run Waiver Form 

 

POST-RACE CELEBRATION

Following the race, there will be a spectacular post-race celebration at the Peoria Sports Complex.   Festivities will begin at 9:00am on Race Day (Sunday, April 19, 2015) with the Awards Ceremony presentations of medals to all the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place winners.   Then following the Awards Ceremony, there is the Race Expo with vendors handing out free give-a-way treats, along with the “Hot Rod Alley” classic & hot rod car show, the “Wild Hogs” motorcycle show, music, food trucks and more!  Celebration Event ends at 12:00pm.

COURSE ROUTES 

The Half Marathon, 10K and 5K races all occur on the same race day and starting/finishing location.  Each race will have public roads blocked off to vehicle traffic by the either the City of Peoria Police Department, City of Glendale Police Department or the Arizona State Patrol (101 Freeway). There will be mile markers at every mile of each race, along with well stocked watering stations offering water and replenishment electrolyte drinks.  In addition, there will be premium medical support and porta-potties will be plentiful and visible on the courses and at the Peoria Sports Complex.  Overall event will be first-class and on-time.  Below is a brief description of each course.

  • HALF MARATHON:
    • Certification. The Half Marathon only will be a USATF certified course.
    • Terrain. The 13.1 miles scenic course is fast and relatively level on city streets, freeway and concrete river trail system surfaces.
    • Route. Starting at the Peoria Sports Complex, you will journey north onto 75th Avenue to the 101 Freeway and exit onto Beardsley Road where you will run the majority of the race on the concrete surfaces of the New River Trail System, completing the race on 83rd Avenue back into the Peoria Sports Complex.
    • Entertainment. There are lots of creative entertainment zones on the course to keep you motivated along your journey to the finish line.  See “Entertainment Zones” page for detailed descriptions on http://www.ForeverYoungRun.com website.
    • Requirements. You must be able to complete the 13.1 mile course by 11:00am.
  • 10K RUN:
    • Certification. The 10K run is NOT USATF certified, yet it has been measured accurately by Race Place Events to be consistent with all race distance standards.
    • Terrain. The 10K course is fast and relatively level on city streets and concrete river trail system surfaces.   The 10K Run does not travel on the 101 freeway.
    • Route. Starting at the Peoria Sports Complex, you will journey south onto 75th Avenue to the Skunk Creek Trail System, then transition onto the New River Trail System, completing the race on 83rd Avenue back into the Peoria Sports Complex.
    • Entertainment. There are lots of creative entertainment zones on the course to keep you motivated along your journey to the finish line.  See “Entertainment Zones” page for detailed descriptions on http://www.ForeverYoungRun.com website.

  • 5K RUN:

RACE RULES

To ensure you have the best experience at the Forever Young Run, please take a few moment to understand the below Race Rules.

  • You must be able to complete your race by 11:00am Sunday morning.
  • You must be in good physical and health condition with appropriate training to complete your race.
  • Race Fees are non-refundable, but are transferable for an additional fee. For details on transfering your registration to another participant, go to http://www.ForeverYoungRun.com website and go to Registration link.
  • Headsets, iPods or other in-your-ear musical devises are strongly discouraged.
  • No bikes, in-line skates, baby joggers, dogs or personal coaches will be allowed on the course.
  • Obey all traffic and safety regulations on public streets and property.
  • No early starts allowed. Any such early starters will be eliminated from the Official Results.
