Maximum Physical Therapy Pelham Parks & Rec 5k

This 5k in Pelham takes runners on a mostly flat course around the city’s growing recreation facilities along Cahaba Valley Creek.

We are planning two possibilities for this race: a traditional, in-person race (Plan A), and a virtual race (Plan B). We will either have one or the other, not both. Decisions will be made and communicated closer to the race date. Race shirts and finisher medals will be provided regardless of whehter the event is in-person or virtual.

* Cash prizes for the top three male and female finishers: $100 for first; $70 for second; $35 for third  * Finisher medals for every participant  * Age group awards for the top three male and female finishers: 19 & below; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60 & above  * Race t-shirt for all participants who register before November 1, 2020  * Awards ceremony will be held at 9:15 AM in/around the Rec Center Pavilion  * Spectator-friendly course! 

NOTE: No dogs or strollers allowed in race.

Race Safety Precautions

• Runners must bring and wear a face mask, covering the nose and mouth, before and after the race. (If desired, a mask may be worn during the race.)
• Spectators and volunteers must bring and wear a face mask, covering the nose and mouth at all times.
• Individuals who have symptoms associated with COVID-19, or have been in close proximity to someone exhibiting symptoms, should not participate in or attend the event. (A complete list of symptoms can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html)
• Individuals considered to be at an “increased risk” should not participate in or attend the event. (A definition of increased risk can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/need-extra-precautions/index.html.)
• Hand sanitizer stations will be located in the start/finish area.
• All participants should follow physical distancing guidelines at all times—while waiting in line to register, while waiting for the race to begin, and during the awards ceremony.
• A limited number of race day registrations are available; however, participants are strongly encouraged to register ahead of time AND to pick up race packets the day before the race.
• The race will begin in waves spaced one minute apart, and results will be based on chip (not “gun”) time. Runners are encouraged to wait until their wave is about to start before moving to the start line. Runners are also encouraged to maintain physical distancing where possible during the race.
• NO WATER STOPS will be provided at this year’s race. Runners should bring and carry their own hydration, if needed.
• Restrooms will be available in the pavilion and inside the Rec Center. Please try to have no more than three individuals in a restroom at a time, and maintain physical distancing as much as possible.
