The Pearland Cancer Prevention Run/Walkathon takes place at the beautiful Silverlake Gulf Community. This community which is about 17 years old has grown tremendously and is now bristling with businesses, neighborhoods and people. Never the less, it is still very peaceful with beautiful landscape. Silverlake houses several lakes and beautiful parks. The walk /run kicks off at 9:00 am (following a brisk work-out lead by a special trainer) from the Silverlake Elementary School Park, through County road 90, flanked on both side by well manicured and green gulf course with water ways. The Walk/Run goes up and down small hills through Bailey Avenue and then back to the elementary school park. The Dawson High School Eagle band is usually there playing beautiful tunes, motivating participants to cross the finish line. The event is becoming a Pearland tradition according to Mayor Tom Reid of Pearland. It has become a family event where both the young and old participate. There is usually a lot to eat and other activities to participate in. The atmosphere is very festive after the run. Our limit for 2017 is 1000 participants. Join the race to prevent cancer. " Walk-4- Loved Ones"
Parking is available at the park for free. The weather is usually cool, so wear comfortable clothing. Arrive atleast 30 minutes before kick off and 1 hour for T-shirt pick up and onsite registrations which starts at 7:30 am.
