About This Activity

Dir Biyabir is a registered non-profit organization based in Mountain View, CA that works with impoverished rural communities in Ethiopia. The mission of Dir Biyabir is to alleviate extreme poverty in Ethiopia by investing in people and developing their ability to help themselves.  We strongly believe that the only sustainable solution to poverty is to enable people to unleash their full potential, their energy and their creativity, towards improving themselves and their communities.

One of Dir Biyabir’s focus is expanding educational opportunities in rural areas by sponsoring girls to go to school. There are many girls who are eager to attend school but are unable to afford even basic school material as they are either orphaned or have parents who cannot afford the expense.  Traditionally families prioritize boys over girls in providing educational opportunities, so Dir Biyabir places a special focus on supporting girls to go to school. Proceed to for project detail.

In participating in this event, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping girls to get education. You will also enjoy running in the beautiful Palo Alto Baylands on well-maintained roads and wide dirt trails extending out into the bay. Along the trails you will see abundant resident population of birds and a 360-degree view of the Bay Area

Please join us in our effort to send girls to school. We appreciate your kind consideration to help.
