About This Activity

KARA WALK’n’RUN TO REMEMBER is a wonderful opportunity to run 3K, walk 5K, raise funds and have fun in an event that benefits to those in our community navigating severe illness and loss. The event takes place inside Mitchell Park in Palo Alto and its neighborhood. Our goal is to see over 400 runners/walkers raise $40,000 for Kara's important programs. All running finishers get a medal, and the top 3 overall men’s and women’s finisher will receive a prize. A fun post-race festival with live music, kids games, raffles and food trucks will be open to everyone.

Event Schedule:

9:00am:       Registration

10:00am:     Walk Begins

10:15am:     Run Begins

11:00am:     Festival with live music, kids games, activities and food trucks

1:30pm:       End


Walk starts at 10:am - Run starts at 10:15am. A clock will be set up to keep track of your time. Your official clock starts when the clock starts.We will provide a manual ranking at the end of the race.

The time limit is 11 am for the walk and 11:15 am for the run.

Starting line: 

Our start line is 600 E Meadow drive in Mitchell Park, Palo Alto. Finish line is in the North Field area of the Park at the balloons arch.

Race prizes:

We will have a medal for every runner finisher. The top 3 overall men’s and women’s finishers will also receive a prize at the end of the race. The awards ceremony will be at 11:15am in the family festival.

Water Station/L&F/First Aid:

A WALKERS water station will be set up at the corner of E. Meadow and Waverly.

A RUNNERS water/food station will be set up at 1mile (1.6km).

Lost and Found and First Aid will be both located at the finish area. Use caution car and bicycle traffic.

Bib Pick up:

For runners who register by the end of Wednesday September 24 and who would like to pick up their bib and race packet may do so by going to Kara office, 457 Kingsley avenue in Palo Alto, Thursday Oct. 2 or Friday Oct. 3. Times for pick up will be communicated 1 week before the event.

D-day pick up will be open from 9am to 10am on site. Please, plan to arrive in advance if you pick up your bib packet on the day of the event.

If you pick up on behalf of someone, please provide a valid ID and the confirmation email of the person you pick up for.


A free parking is located in Mitchell Park (600 E Meadow drive, Palo Alto) and public parking is available in the streets around the park. The parking will remain open to the public so carpooling is encouraged! We do not provide any shuttle service at this time, so please plan time ahead to park.
