About This Activity
Martin County High School presents: Push The Pace For Peyton 5k.
This 5k will take place on the MCHS campus at 7:30am. Runners will have the opportunity to run the campus of MCHS with the race finishing in the Tiger Stadium.
This 5k is a fundraiser for Peyton McCaughey. Peyton McCaughey is the son of Lori McCaughey, an assistant principal at MCHS. Peyton's family had their house tented and treated for termites in the middle of August. The family was cleared to go back into their home. Upon returning home the family became ill. Peyton began to lose his ability to stand on his own and speak. The family suspected he was poisoned by the termite treatment chemicals. Peyton was rushed to St. Mary's where he spent the next 10 days in ICU.
Peyton has recently been transferred to a children's hospital further from the family's home where specialists can give him better care. Peyton remains hospitalized at this time due to brain damage as a result of this accident. As of right now, Peyton has lost control of his motor skills and is unable to control his limbs and the muscles he uses to speak.
This fundraiser is to raise money for Peyton and his family. It takes both parents to be with Peyton 24 hours a day and the absence of income will soon become a big problem. The funds raised from this 5k will be used for family expenses such as travel, hotels, food, lost time at work, and other needs.
Please join us in raising funds for a member of our Tiger Family.
