About This Activity

Sign up for the European Discovery 5K Fun Run/Walk in Oviedo and help support local high school students in raising funds to travel to Europe.  This extraordinary adventure will help the students build students and allow them to develop self-confidence, self-awareness, and leadership skills.

The overall mission of this organization that was started by President Eisenhower in 1956 was to bridge cultural and political borders through education and exchange, creating global citizens and making the world a better place for future generations.  Today more than 50 years later, Eisenhower's vision has been transformed to match the needs of our modern world.  With increased access to international travel and the Internet, the globe has become a much smaller place.

Our Central Florida high school students will experience life altering activities such as meeting a Holocaust survivor and going through a concentration camp in Austria; visiting the Sistine Chapel and going behind doors to discuss Catholicism with a priest at the Vatican; helping build a medieval castle and milking goats on an Italian farm.  They will also stay with a host family and gain a better understanding of the local people through personal interaction.

People to People interactions are more important than ever as we learn to co-exist and thrive in a global society.

The Top 3 Male & Top 3 Female finishers will receive gift cards and custom awards.  Food & Refreshments will be provided. Chip timing not provided. Finish clock display.
