About This Activity
Come run in the Switzerland of America, in the event previously voted Best Get Away Weekend by Colorado Runner magazine readers!
REGISTRATION OPENS FEBRUARY 1, 2015. EARLY BIRD SAVINGS has been extended to the end of the day, FEBRUARY 17th, 2015!!!
The full marathon starts at 6:30AM at the Ridgway Solar Ranch Park (the finish line for the half marathon in previous years) and the marathon runners will run to Fellin Park (a/k/a the Ouray Hot Springs Park) . Once the marathon runners reach Ouray Hot Springs Park, they will turn around and run back to Ridgway and finish the race where they started! There will be plenty of aid stations (with toilets) along the course. The elevation of Ouray is 7,700 ft. and the elevation of Ridgway is 7,000 ft. This beautiful course is primarily on a dirt county road. USTAF certified course. CO11001JF.
The half marathon starts at 7:30AM on Main St, directly adjacent to Fellin Park (a/k/a Ouray Hot Springs Park). Half marathoners will run south down Main St. and turn around at 3rd Ave. and run north down Main St. back to Fellin Park, run counterclockwise around the track and from there, runners follow the same path as in years past through Ouray and once on Oak St./CR 17, you'll run all the way to the Ridgway Solar Ranch Park (the starting line for the marathon). USTAF certified course. CO11002JF.
Eventhough we will not have an early start option this year, we will be providing support on the course until 1:30pm so that all the marathon and half marathon participants should have plenty of time to finish. We love our walkers and any of our participants are free to walk or run the course at any point during the race. Again, there will be plenty of race staff and refreshments at the finish line for all!
Each marathon and half marathon registrant will receive an official race t-shirt and half price entry to the Ouray Hot Springs Pool and the Box Canyon Falls the weekend of the event. Race t-shirt in your desired size cannot be guaranteed unless you register by July 10!
Also, just like last year, each participant (age 21 and over, of course) will be entitled at the finish line to a free beer donated by one of our local micro-breweries.
We will be providing snacks at the end, including fruit, bagels and cold chocolate milk.
Participants who finish the marathon and half marathon will be awarded finisher medals. Awards in gender and age categories and male and female course record awards will be presented. The awards ceremony for both the half and full marathons will be held at the Ridgway Town Park on the stage that will be erected for the Ridgway Arts and Crafts Fair which will be going on all weekend. Awards will have a local touch to make this event memorable for all!
We will again have a Kids' Fun Run in Ridgway (near the finish line for the marathon/half marathon) that starts at approximately 10:30AM. Each Kid's Fun Run registrant will receive a snack, cap with race logo, and finisher ribbon.
Throughout the morning (starting from approximately 10:00AM), bus transportation will be provided from Solar Ranches park (Ridgway) back to Ouray Hot Springs/Fellin Park.
Race Co-Directors: John Ferguson (970-325-0228) firstname.lastname@example.org or Glynn Williams (970-325-4932) email@example.com.
Race fees go directly to the Mt. Sneffels Education Foundation , a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives and educational experiences of the youth in Ouray County.
