About This Activity

12 March 2020
It is with great regret that we inform you that the events of the 2020 Tomoka Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K scheduled for Saturday March 21st are being cancelled.

This decision is based on the recommendation of the Governor of Florida to cancel or postpone all mass gatherings in the state and in conjunction with our medical director and supporting hospital.  We believe the decision to cancel the event is in the best interest of the health and welfare of the larger community. Unfortunately due to the complexity of this event, permitting, scheduling of facilities, and closures of roadways we are unable to reschedule this year's event. Cancelling our event is an effort to help slow down the spread of the COVID-19 virus and to protect the most vulnerable portion of our population. Click here for a good article on why cancelling or postponing events can help.
We recognize that many of you have put months and months of effort into your training and this is a great disappointment and frustration.  While we recognize runners in general are a very healthy demographic and not likely to incur serious consequences from the virus we must consider the hundreds of volunteers, support staff as well as the friends and family members of participants that could ultimately be effected. In addition a significant number of medical personnel are required to support the race and as rapidly as COVID-19 cases are being diagnosed and the situation is developing their services will be required elsewhere on our race day.
We are working hard to give you are many options for your registration as possible.
The available options available are:

In order to select one of these options sign in to your RunSignUp account, click on your profile (the round circle in the corner), then scroll down to the Tomoka Marathon and click on manage registration next to the event.  That will take you directly to the manage registration page for the Tomoka Marathon.
Options will remain open until March 21st to give you time to research and make decisions.  There may be some technology issues as this is a new process for the registration platform.  If you have difficulty getting into your account or choosing an option or are one of our participants that was directly affected by the International Travel Ban, please contact us directly.

Regards,
The Runner's High Team

Saturday, March 21st, 2020, will mark the seventh running of the Tomoka Marathon, Half-Marathon and 5K Races.

The Tomoka Marathon was selected by runners as one of the Top 20 Marathons in the US according to the BibRave100 and featured in Runner's World as one of the 70 American Road Races Every Runner Should Finish

The 7th Annual Tomoka Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K, will take place in Ormond Beach, FL on Saturday, March 21st, 2020.   This race includes the full marathon, half marathon, and a 5K run/walk.  The full marathon is a certified as a Boston Qualifier.   This year we will also be adding a Ruck division to the half marathon.  The one-of-a-kind route takes runners through natural and historic Florida on a beautiful course which includes the Tomoka State Park and Intracoastal Waterway vistas.

The marathon route, affectionately known as “The Tomoka Loop”, has appeal for locals and travellers alike to enjoy some of the most diverse natural “Old Florida” scenery remaining. The views are a panoramas of rivers, inland creeks, marshes, barrier island dunes and beach, as well as historic sites. “The Tomoka Loop” is designated as one of Florida’s Scenic Highways and runners will quickly see why it earned this distinction as they experience the natural beauty of the area from beginning to end.

The start and finish area for all events will be at The Casements, which is the historic former winter home of John D. Rockefeller. The post race party will be held in the beautiful Rockefeller Gardens on the Halifax River and features complimentary food, drinks and beer for participants.

Funds raised by this event will be returned to the local community in a variety of ways.  Donations are made to student and citizen groups who provide volunteer support. These groups include: VFYMCA, Team RWB, Seabreeze Boys Cross Country Team, Boy Scouts of America, Ormond Beach Civil Air Patrol, ERAU Lady Eagles Soccer Team and the Halifax Health Foundataion.
