8th Annual Olathe Medical Center Women’s Triathlon
Olathe Medical Center is proud to be the title sponsor of the only all women’s triathlon and duathlon in the state of Kansas. Olathe Medical Center is dedicated to improving the health of our community, including providing state-of-the-art medical care and encouraging healthy lifestyles. The event features a Sprint Distance triathlon and a duathlon course in Kill Creek Park, and is operated by Johnson County Park and Recreation District. This is a USAT Sanctioned Event. Mtec Chip Timing-System will be used for accurate timing results. All age group athletes must participate and compete in the age group division corresponding to the athlete’s age on December 31st of this year (2015). Individual awards will be presented to the top three male and female overall finishers in each course. Age group awards will be broken down into five year increments for both male and female divisions.
Event details and schedule
Swim: The swim course is 500 meters in length. The swim start will be a time trial start where one person enters the water every three seconds. You will place yourself within in your heat by the appropriate pace sign the morning of the race according to your swim time where you feel most comfortable.
Bike: The bike course is a 10.6 mile partially hilly loop course, held both within and outside the park boundaries.
Run: The run course is a 3.1 mile (5K) route on the Kill Creek Streamway Trail System which adjoins with Kill Creek Park. This route provides some of the most beautiful natural surroundings in the region. Aid stations are at the transition and about every mile on the run.
Run: The race will have a mass start for all duathletes on the park road. The first and second run is a 3.1 mile (5K) route on the Kill Creek Streamway Trail System which adjorns with Kill Creek Park. This route provides some of the most beautiful natural surroundings in the region. Aid stations are at the transition and about every mile on the run. The second run will be the same as the first run but in a reverse route, and will also be the same route the triathletes do their run leg.
Bike: The bike course is a 10.6 mile partially hilly loop course, held both within and outside the park boundaries. This is also the same route that the triathletes do.
This event hosts a weight class division call the Athena Division. The minimum weight shall be 165 pounds. The weight class age categories are 39 years of age and under, and 40 years of age and over. This age is based off of the athlete’s age on December 31st of this year (2015). Participants are not eligible to compete in weight class division and in an age group division at the same event.

Kill Creek Park gates open to participants and spectators.
Transition area opens
Kill Creek Park gates closed to vehicle traffic. Anyone arriving after 7:45 will have to park outside Kill Creek Park in a designated lot.
Transition area closes
First heat will begin. A heat sheet will be provided prior to event day.
