About This Activity

Come join us for this fundraising event that benefits the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Teams of Piney Orchard Elementary and Four Seasons Elementary.  Runners, walkers, and jogging strollers are all welcome.  No pets please.  Packet Pick up will be offered on Friday at Fleet Feet in Severna Park, Saturday at Road Runners in Columbia and the day of the event.  

This is a CHIP TIMED event!

Course Description:

  • Leave Community Center parking lot and cross Stream Valley 
  •  Run south on Stream Valley toward POES
  • Cross Strawberry Lake and turn left 
  • Run East/South down Strawberry Lake 
  • Turn right onto the Nature Preserve path that occurs right before the W B& A trail 
  • Follow paved path until Sandy Walk Way, turn right onto Sandy Walk Way
  • Take Sandy Walk Way to Piney Orchard Parkway, head right or north
  • Turn right on Strawberry Lake running toward POES
  • Cross again in front of school and return to Community Center

Awards:  Awards will be given to the Top Male, Top Female, Top Male Under 14 and Top Female Under 14.

KIDS 1 MILE FUN RUN:  For children 12 & under.  Parent or responsible adult for each child must be present for the duration of the run.

Event schedule and times

The 5k start will be at 7:30 am.

The 1 Mile Fun Run will start at 8:30 am.

Packet Pick-up Dates/Locations:

  1. Friday, March 21, 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm, Fleet Feet Sports, Severna Park.  500 Ritchie Highway, 410-647-3338. 

    Participants who attend the pre-race packet pick-up at Fleet Feet on Friday from 2:30-4:30pm will receive a special packet pick-up discount of 60% OFF all winter apparel, hats and gloves.

  2. Saturday, March 22, 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm, Road Runner Sports, Elkridge. 6630-C Marie Curie Drive.  410-290-2906
  3. Sunday, March 23, 6:30 am at Piney Orchard Community Center parking lot.

Other important race information:

  1. Must have Photo ID for packet pick-up.
  2. You may pick-up other packets, in addition to yours.  To do so you must have copy of their photo ID, electronic or paper.
  3. We will NOT have bag check area the morning of race.
  4. There will be NO parking at the Piney Orchard Community Center parking lot the morning of race.
  5. We will have race warm up with trainer before the start of the 5K race at 7:15 am.
  6. Pacers will be available for the 5K race. 
  7. For safety we ask that all those with strollers start the race at the back of the pack.
  8. Awards/Raffle will take place after the 1-Mile Kids Fun Run at approximately 9:00 am.
  9. Race sponsors and other vendors will be at Start/Finish Line area. 
  10. This is a rain or shine event.

Dear Wipe Out Cancer 5K Volunteers:

On behalf of The Piney Orchard Run Club, thank you for being a Volunteer of our inaugural run club road race. Your willingness to Volunteer at our event has helped us in planning and managing a successful race, and most important, raising awareness and money for the American Cancer Society.
The race is only a few days away. Accordingly, we would like to firm up some details with you as a volunteer. Please send any questions about your Volunteer responsibilities to both following to both Jennifer (jlralston@hkpproactivesolutions.com) and Chris (5chriscraig@gmail.com).

Our Schedule for Race Day is as follows:
-6am Set Up with Blue Point Timing in Community Center Parking Lot (Mike, Jen, Chris)
-6am Drop Mile Markers & Water Station Tables (Emily & Cullen)
-6:30 Onsite Registration Begins (Cullen, Yesenia, Raquel, Christy, Haley & Ambryce (Rocky&Christy are running 5K))
-6:30 Starting Line Arch goes up (Mike)
-6:30 EMS arrives to Community Center (Odenton Fire Department)
-6:45 Water Station Volunteers to Registration Table to get Water Station Supplies (Cullen)
All Water Station Volunteers will need to report to the Registration Table at 6:45am to pick up their Water Station Supplies from Kristen Cullen and stock their Water Station Table
-7:15 Pacers in Place (Danielle)
All Pacers need to arrive at the Starting Line at 7:15 to pick up their Pace Sign to run with from Danielle Ruby
-7:15 Warm Ups with Trainers Begin (Michele)
Lo & Eric will need to be ready to rally the crowd with a great start!
-7:15 GORC Cheer Leaders Cheer on Runners(Betty)
All Cheerleaders should arrive at the Starting Line by 7:15 and meet Ms. Betty
-7:25 Danielle Signs National Anthem

Volunteers Helping with the Fun Run will need to help hand out medals to all Children as they cross the Finish line. Please arrive at the Starting line as close to 8:15 as possible
-9:00 Awards & Raffle (Jen & Chris)
-9:15 Clean Up (All)

The Run Club and our set-up crew will be at the Piney Orchard Community Center parking lot, 2400 Stream Valley Drive, at 6:00 am on Sunday, March 23rd. We will not have any parked cars in the parking lot however you can park your car on Stream Valley Drive.
Participation continues to grow. Currently, we have 220 participants registered for the 5K, including 50 kids in the 1-Mile Fun Run.
