About This Activity

The 3rd Annual Heartland Humane Society of Missouri's "Panting for Paws" 5k Race and 1 Mile Fun Walk will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Legacy Park in Cottleville, MO.  All proceeds from the event go to Heartland Humane Society of Missouri, a 501(c)3 non-profit group of dedicated foster homes that gives abandoned, abused and unwanted animals another chance for loving, permanent homes through our adoption program, following the no-kill philosophy. 

Event details and schedule

The event is family-friendly, dogs included!  It will be held at Legacy Park along the trails in Cottleville, MO. In addition to the 5k Race and 1 Mile Fun Walk, we will have a dog costume contest and raffles for pet-themed prizes.  Vendors will be on-site and water and light refreshments will be provided.  

The 5k race will be timed and medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age group. 

The entry fee for the 5k race is $25 and includes a T-shirt and goody bag.  The entry fee for the 1 Mile Fun Walk is $10 without a T-shirt or $20 with a T-shirt.  Walk participants will receive a goody bag.  Please register early as shirts and/or requested sizes cannot be guaranteed for entries received after September 10th. 

Schedule of events:

8:00 to 8:45 am - Registration

9:00 am - 5k race starts

9:15 am - 1 Mile Fun Walk starts

10:00 am - Dog costume contest

10:30 am - Race winners announcement

Dogs are welcome on the 5k trail and the 1 Mile Fun Walk.  Rules for dogs are as follows:  must be current on vaccinations and wear tags; must be kept on a six foot or shorter leash (no retractable leashes please) and must be kept under control at all times; dogs under three months or in any stage of heat are not permitted; only bring your dog if he/she enjoys people and other dogs. Owners are responsible for picking up and disposing of waste. 

All participants must sign a waiver.
