About This Activity

Can you beat the Tomato? The 2nd Annual Tomato Trot is a community run/walk benefiting Haven Ministry in Sunbury. The mission of Haven Ministry is to respond, through faith in God's covenantal relationship with us, to the basic needs of God's people by providing emergency shelter, nurturing, and advocacy for individuals and families primarily in Northumberland, Snyder, and Union County.

The race will begin and end in the parking lot at the Furmano Foods plant in Northumberland, located at 700 Cannery Road (GPS Address: Please use 815 Cannery Road). 5K will be chip timed by PA Runners. Course is the same as last year. Awards will be given to top 3 overall and age group finishers plus additional bragging rights to anyone who “beats the Tomato!” The Kids’ Fun Run will occur following the 5K. This is a rain or shine event. This family fun event is perfect for people of all ages and abilities. Free shirt with registration by September 18.

Furmano Foods has pledged to a dollar-for-dollar donation match on the registration fees. Please join us to help meet our fundraising goal of $5,000! Donate a nonperishable food item to get a head start on the running Tomato! Furmano Foods will also be donating a case of canned goods to Haven Ministry for every 5 pre-registered participants.

Location: Race begins and ends at 700 Cannery Road, Northumberland (Parking Lot at Furmano Foods)

Course: Loop around the scenic rolling countryside. Refreshments will be available after the race for all participants.
