About This Activity
The Soles for Cole 5K is for Cole Croteau and for all those affected by Cystic Fibrosis. This race was originally created in order to ease the financial stress that was generated by high medical bills. These were medical bills used to battle the CF that affected Cole's body. Funds generated over the years not only suppressed the towering medical bills, but it also provided donations to fund CF research with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Unfortunately after a lifetime battle with CF and a life full of love, Cole's battle was soon put to an end in late September of this past year. It is now our job to carry on his flame for life and continue to spread his impact for the community as well as the pursuit of putting an end to this disease. With Cole now back home, the purpose of Soles for Cole still stands in providing donations to fund CF research, but we also have started a scholarship fund in Cole's name to continue his legacy through the future of others.
We are a small army of family and friends of Cole Croteau, who had Cystic Fibrosis (CF), and we want to change CF to Cure Found. Cole battled CF since birth and fought it with courage and strength. His day was filled with 3 treatments in the morning before school and 4 treatments before bed. His daily routine consisted of 20 minute sessions with the VEST. Along with the treatments, Cole took 30 to 35 pills a day to maintain his enzyme balance and to keep his immune system strong. Cystic Fibrosis effects are found in around 30,000 children and adults in the US, It effects the lungs, the pancreas, the gastrointestinal tract, and in some cases, the reproductive system. For further interest in learning about Cystic Fibrosis visit to cff.org.
But through all of these trials and tribulations, Cole was an amazing teenager that loved God, his family, and his friends. Cole also loved to Deer and Duck hunt, and used this passion to start his very own waterfowl hunting service to those handicapped and impaired. He was a 11th grader at East Coweta High School and was a member at SouthCrest Church. But the most important thing that he was a son, a brother, a dear friend, and much more to the people he met and impacted within his short time on this Earth. We love Cole and can't imagine how much peace his is in, breathing in his first full breaths in heaven with the father and the one that makes all things new and perfect.
