About This Activity

The 1oth annual Prospect Park Duathlon takes place on a scenic loop course during the beginning of spring.  It starts on the south end of Prospect Park, between the Ice Skating Lefrak Center and Park Circle.  The Classic and International Distance run and bike the main 3.35 mile loop.  Runners do the same loop one or twice depending on their distance.  There is a gradual inclines and breathtaking views of the park.   Start, transition area and finish line are located right in front of the Greek Shelter by the lake.   The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon.  Annual or one-day membership is required.  As part of your packet you will receive a commemorative t-shirt and a personalized bib number for those who signed up at least 4 weeks before race day.  Finishers medal for those who cross the finish line.   Awards the top 3 male and female overall in every category.  Awards medals for top 3 male and female in age groups of 10 in every category.  Packet pick-up in Manhattan will be host by the Asics Store in Times Square the weekend prior to the event.  Packet ick-up in Brooklyn will be announced shortly.  Post-race celebration includes an Award Ceremony along with the famous Brooklyn bagels and flavored cream cheese spreads. There is a limit of 350 participants.  Our 2014 Duathlon and Run for the park sold out the week of the race.

7:00 am- 8:15 am Packet Pickup and Race Day Registration

7:30 am Start for International distance duathletes!

8:20 am Mandatory Pre-Race meeting for Classic Distance Duathletes

8:30 am wave 1 Classic Distance

8:40 am wave 2 Mini Sprint Distance

8:50 am wave 3 for  5K and 10K run

10:30 am Awards ceremony  for Runs and Mini sprint and International Distance duathlon.

11:00 am Awards Ceremony for Classic Distance Duathlon.

USAT Packet Pickup Guidelines

Check-In All athletes must have the following: Valid picture ID, receipt of online registration, current USAT Membership Card or Sign-up for a $12.00 One-day License. All members of Relay Teams must be present by packet pick-up.

ALL athletes are required to show photo ID. NO ID, NO RACE, NO EXCEPTIONS. Every single participant in any USAT sanctioned race must have a photo ID, this includes all relay participants. Youth athletes without an ID must be accompanied by a parent/guardian with a photo ID. Annual members are required to bring their membership card every time they compete in a USAT sanctioned event.

The following subways are located near the Park:
• 2 and 3 trains at Grand Army Plaza station

• Q, S and B trains at Prospect Park station

From Westchester, the Bronx and points north:
• Take 87 South to the Triborough Bridge
• Take Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (278) west to Brooklyn
• Take Tillary St. exit
• Turn left on Flatbush Ave.
• Stay on Flatbush until you see the park or Grand Army Plaza
• Bear right and take Prospect Park West
• Start looking for Parking on 15th,
• if you go around the circle to Prospect Park Southwest do not go further than 16th street
• Enter the park and look for Center Drive it is at the top of the hill

From New Jersey, Staten Island and points south:
• Take the Verrazano Bridge to Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (278)
• Take the Prospect Expressway to the 10th Ave. exit
• Head straight on 10th Ave and make a left onto Prospect Ave.
• Head north on Prospect Ave to 8th Ave.
• Turn right at 8th Ave.
• Turn right at Union St.
• Continue onto Plaza St West
• Bear right at Grand Army Plaza onto Prospect Park West
• Go around the circle onto Prospect Park southwest,
•go around the circle to Prospect Park Southwest
• turn left onto Parkside Ave.  The greek shelter will be on the left in the park in front of the soccer field in the Parade grounds.

From New Jersey, Manhattan and points west:
• Take Manhattan Bridge to Flatbush Ave., or take the Brooklyn Bridge, make left on Tillary St. and right on Flatbush Ave.
• Stay on Flatbush
• Go around the circle onto Prospect Park southwest,
•go around the circle to Prospect Park Southwest
• turn left onto Parkside Ave.  The greek shelter will be on the left in the park in front of the soccer field in the Parade grounds.

From Long Island:
• Take the Long Island Expressway (495) west to Brooklyn Queens Expressway (278) west towards Brooklyn
• Take Tillary St. exit
• Turn left on Flatbush Ave.
• Stay on Flatbush
• Bear right at Grand Army Plaza onto Prospect Park West
• Go around the circle onto Prospect Park southwest,
•go around the circle to Prospect Park Southwest
• turn left onto Parkside Ave.  The greek shelter will be on the left in the park in front of the soccer field in the Parade grounds.

• From Belt Parkway, take Ocean Parkway north exit to Park Circle
• Follow Circle to Prospect Park Southwest.
