About This Activity

The inaugural Frozen Bonsai Half Marathon was such a success that we’re back for a second year!  The second annual Frozen Bonsai Half Marathon will be run in conjunction  with The NYCRUNS New York City Ekiden and will take you on a wintry tour of Central Park’s rolling hills. These races make up the final entries in the 2014 NYCRUNS InterClub Challenge as well (you do not have to be in a club to run)!

Event schedule and times

Start time: 9:00 AM
Address: Central Park New York, NY

Course: The Frozen Bonsai course will take you on a beautiful tour of Central Park.  The race begins on East Drive at 100th St.  Runners will run across the 102nd St. transverse, turning left onto West Drive heading south.  Runners will go around the bottom of the park and then head north on East Drive.  Runners will then turn left at the 72nd St. transverse, running across the park to West Drive, where they will turn left on West Drive and head south around the bottom of the park.  Runners will then head north on East Drive completing one full loop of the park (yes, that includes the Harlem Hills) and finishing on the 102nd St. transverse. Half-Marathon Map

Race Cap & Time Limit: This race is currently capped at 1500 runners. The official time limit is 3 hours but as a rule of thumb the last thing we unplug is the finish line mat – take your chances over 3:00.

Awards: Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female runners overall and the top 3 in each ten-year age group.

Packet Pickup: TBD.  Pre-race and race day packet pickup will be available.

Amenities: A great long sleeve race shirt will be included. All finisher’s will receive a medal.  Bag check and toilets will be provided. Hot chocolate, bagels, spreads, and fresh fruit will make up the usual great NYCRUNS post race spread.

Directions: Take the C train to 102nd St. or the 6 train to 103rd St. and enter the park. Race HQ is located at the left of the 102nd St. transverse near the finish line.  Please check MTA Trip Planner for up to date and detailed mass transit directions and Google Maps for driving directions. Parking is limited at all of our events, we strongly encourage you to use mass transit.

Cost: The race costs $60.00.  NYCRUNS members receive a 5% discount, race deferral rights and other perks.

The standard no-refunds, no-deferrals, no-transfers policy applies, unless you are signed up for the NYCRUNS membership program.
