About This Activity

The NYCRUNS Brooklyn Marathon began as a dream in 2011 and has since become one of our marquee events of the year, nearly doubling in size between 2011 and 2012 and drawing runners from all over the world.

The race takes you on a 26.2-mile tour of Prospect Park, a bucolic refuge designed by the same guys who designed Central Park — only it’s said they were much happier with Prospect Park (it gave them a chance to “correct their mistakes,” or so the legend goes).

The NYCRUNS Brooklyn Marathon likewise follows the legacy of a great institution: the New York City Marathon itself. Originally run entirely in Central Park, the NYC Marathon has become the largest marathon in the world. We’re not trying to compete with that great race just two weeks before ours, but we are pleased to offer an alternative — a small, community-focused event confined to the 3.33-mile loop around Prospect Park.
