About This Activity
Please join in the 5th Annual Finland Center Midsummer 5K Run which is held at Prospect Park, Brooklyn. This is a charity run, the proceeds of which will be used to support The Kota Alliance for a World Center for Women in NYC ; and its partner organizations: NFCC - a Nepalese reproductive health organization; Stand For Education - an organization working for education, gender equality and women's empowerment in South Sudan; and other Kota Alliance affiliates with similar missions.
Sponsored by The Running Company, The Finland Society (Finland) and Valmarin (Finland). All runners will receive a T-shirt; and discount coupons from The Running Company and Marimekko. Prizes will be given also to the biggest fundraisers!
Starting point/Finish Line are at Bartels Lot in the southwestern edge of the park (subway stations nearby).The race starts at 9:00 AM and will be a 5K loop of Prospect Park finishing at Bartels Lot. Nordic pole walkers start at the same time and MUST finish by 10am according to Park rules. There are public toilets nearby in the park. Access via subway is through the F,G station at 15th St - Prospect Park.
We encourage you to sign up asap to ensure you get your T-shirt! If registering after June 5, you may not be able to get a shirt in your size.
Pre race pick up of kits and t-shirts will be on June 17th and 18th at The Running Company at the Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle. Nordic walking poles bought on this site can be picked up there as well. If you have your own poles, bring them and pay only $25 as a "runner". Post race water and yummy sandwiches will be supplied with Nordic Breads' Finnish Ruis Rye bread and Finlandia cheese.
