2014 Memorial Day Four Mile Run
Mon, May 26, 2014
New York, NY
About This Activity
The 33rd annual Memorial Day Run took on special meaning last year as more than 1,000 ran or walked through the Hurricane Sandy devastated neighborhoods of Midland Beach, Ocean Breeze and South Beach.
On this, the 34th Memorial Day Run, more than 1,000 will do the same as some neighborhoods work to rebuild … and others work with the State of New York in a buyout process that will take the entire Ocean Breeze community between Seaview and Naughton Avenues and return it to Mother Nature. Somewhere it always belonged.
The Advance and Staten Island University Hospital, which has its home in the Ocean Breeze community but closer to Hylan Boulevard, seek to bring a feeling of rejuvenation again, bringing more than 1,000 friends and neighbors into the area.
We will always remember those lost in the storm, and honor their memory. And we will always remember those who have suffered, and are still struggling to recover. There are many.
So take some time as you run through the neighborhoods to IMAGINE. Reflect on what happened, and imagine a better tomorrow.
