Southern War of the Oars at False River

Get your oars ready! FRPC and MWPC present Southern War of the Oars, the 1st paddle race on False River. Youth, 400meter sprint, 1-mile, 1-mile relay, and 2-mile entries. Registration includes shirt, music, insurance, and refreshments. Reg by 3/10 for a guaranteed shirt. Age group awards for each category will be given, as well as a few 'creative' awards ;). The event will be held between Morel's and Satterfield's, in Morrison Parkway. Races will begin at the new False River Recreational Trailhead! Here's your lineup:8:15 - Paddle tips from World Paddle Association Instructor9:00 - Youth (15 and under)9:20 - 400m Sprint9:40 - 1 Mile Relay10:15 - 1 Mile and 2 Mile Individual10:4 - Awards and Door prizesEvent day will consist of races, music, and cool door prizes. Coffee and biscuits will be available. You won't leave hungry, as plenty of post race food will be around!Parking will be on Main Street, in front of Satterfield's. You are encouraged to drop off your board at the race location prior to parking. A portion of the proceeds will benefit recreational improvements for the City of New Roads and the remainder of the proceeds will be used for the implementation of paddle camps in the New Roads area. Race day registration will open on race day at 7:30.
