About This Activity

A LIMITED NUMBER OF REGISTRATIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE ON RACE MORNING. Please arrive by 7:15a.m. If you would like to register on Saturday, before the race.

The Coast Guard Foundation is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to constantly bettering the lives of Coast Guard members and their families by providing education, relief, and welfare support—especially when they need it most. The Run to Remember is an annual, global event hosted by Coast Guard members in honor of those who have fallen while protecting our homeland, rescuing those in peril, and enforcing maritime law. All proceeds of the Run to Remember support Coast Guard Foundation programs like the Fallen Heroes Scholarship Fund, the Disaster Relief Fund and other Coast Guard Foundation programs that support the men, women and families of the Coast Guard.

Listen to the story:

In 2013, more than 5,400 people gathered to honor the fallen heroes of the Coast Guard at 63 different events across the globe. Since its inception, the Run To Remember has raised more than $50,000 to support the men and women of the Coast Guard and their families. Most importantly, though, these events have honored the brave individuals who gave their lives so others may live.

The 2014 course starts from Shelter Four on scenic Lakeshore Drive and runs West to the cirlce at Elysian Fields.  Runners turn around and head East again, past the start finish, around the loop at Leroy Johnson Drive, and back to Shelter Four.  All of this is made possible by Freeport McMoRan Oil & Gas with the help of Bollinger Shipyards and Canal Barge Co.
