8 Hours @ B.C.
About This Activity
What is this? This is an 8-Hour Fat Ass-ish Run at Brown County State Park.
What’s the Course Like? This is a loop course with about 8 miles of single track trail - approximately 2000’ of total elevation change. The Course starts and finishes at the Walnut Shelter. Run, walk or crawl it as many times as you want during the 8 hour event.
Is this a race? Nope. Think of it as a glorified training run. But, we will give out a couple of special awards at the end. How about that?
Do I have to run for 8 hours? Of course not. The Course will be open for 8 hours. Run, hike or crawl as much or as little as you want. But be sure to hang around afterwards to support your fellow runners and have fun!
Will there be course support? We will have one aid-station at the start/finish area at the Walnut Shelter with some minimal aid (water, electrolyte replacement). Please bring your own container (handheld / hydration pack) and your other hydration and nutritional needs. We will have some food to share with everybody at the end. Please bring some stuff to share too!
Does this cost money? Depends. Premium Members will pay no registration fee. Basic Members will pay $10. Non-members will be charged $15. There is also a weekend camping option for $21.40 (To DNR). Certain fees from runsignup.com may apply. Proceeds from the event are going to Indiana Trail Running Association, a tax-exempt nonprofit organization, as a fundraiser. The money is going to a good cause. Join the club and get a discount!
Ok, you said something about awards… Yes! We are doing a “Garmin Challenge.” A special award will be given to the male and female participants with the most mileage recorded during the 8-hour event on their GPS watches.
Camping? Yes, we have reserved Rally Camp 2 (35 tent spaces) for the weekend. The cost for camping is $21.40 (to DNR). If I were you, I’d sign up for camping and make a weekend out of it! There will be informal running opportunities and pitch-in meals. A great time will be had by all.
