5K Fun Run - Individual Age group/open
About This Activity
The 2nd annual TSC-Color Me Free 5k fun run will take place in Florida Sports Park to raise awareness and funds for a disease called Tuberous Sclerosis Complex!
Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to form in vital organs such as the brain, eyes, heart, kidneys, skin, liver and lungs. The tumors can lead to uncontrollable seizures, autism, heart disease, mental retardation, facial disfigurement and kidney failure. In fact, TSC is the number one known genetic cause of both epilepsy and autism and people with TSC often develop learning and behavioral problems. TSC affects some people severely, while others are so mildly affected that it often goes undiagnosed. At least two children born each day in the United States will have TSC. Current estimates place TSC affected births at 1 in 6,000. Nearly 1 million people worldwide are known to have TSC, with approximately 50,000 in the United States. Our goal is to bring awareness to this disease as more people are affected with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex than Lou Gehrig’s disease. TSC knows no racial, cultural or economic barriers and currently has no cure.
We thank you for coming and for supporting such a wonderful cause!
No! Everyone, young or old, meek or mild is welcome to participate. Those under 18 must bring a waiver signed by a parent or guardian to packet pick-up or race day and here's the kicker...5 and under run for FREE with a paying adult but won't get a t-shirt, race bib or sunglasses but will be covered in color head to toe!
The race is non-refundable, but it is transferable to another race or a significant or insignificant other. You must contact us by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) prior to your race day in order to transfer to another name.
Check out the race page or Facebook two weeks before the race to view important race info like, dates, times, and locations of packet pickup. You'll need your name, personal identification, and make sure that the waiver has been signed, to pick up your packet!
We’ll have photographers present taking pictures throughout the race as well as at the finish line. If you want to take your own, we recommend a zip lock bag to keep your phone/camera safe and color free.
