About This Activity
My name is Specialist Brittany Connell, I am a member of the California Army National Guard. Like so many others, I began planning my birthday months in advanced. This year I turn 23 at the same time I celebrate my 3 years in service (or halfway through my contract). I have never been to big on birthdays, actually in the past I have treated my coworkers to goodies on my birthday to avoid the out of tune voices singing happy birthday and the odd gifts I pretend to like. So why not make this worth something?
I would like to invite you to the first ever Ruck Warrior! Don't know what I'm talking about? Don't worry, we'll get there!
Ruck March, "Also known as "forced marches" or "humps", these events are basically walking at a fast pace over rough terrain with a backpack at least 45 lbs in weight. When you take the ruck march test, you will also carry a weapon, wear boots, BDU (Battle Dress Uniform - "fatigues" pants/blouse), LBE (Load Bearing Equipment - shoulder harness with canteens with water), and a helmet."
Now that we have the basics covered, why would you want to do a ruck march? Well, I can tell you... no sane person truly enjoys ruck marches, they are meant to be miserable (my drill sergeant said so!).
With a more informative perspective, I would like to re-invite you to the first ever Ruck Warrior! Don't worry... you don't need to wear a ruck sack, carry a weapon (please don't...), wear or helmet or ever wear fatigues- although I do encourage some type of clothing. Your presence and motivation are plenty enough!
This is a 100% non-profit event. All donations will be donated directly to the Wounded Warrior Project.
So join me... ruck, run, walk or crawl and support the men and women who fought for you and me. For 13.1 miles, you will feel the burn, the pride, motivation and accomplishment of doing something bigger than yourself!
Can't make it? No problem! Donations made from this site (IndieGoGo) will be sent directly to the Wounded Warrior Project (no middle-man running group trying to cover their "costs").
Thank you for your support! Be sure to share this page to your friends and family!
UPDATE: PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR UPDATED START TIME AND LOCATION. TENTATIVE START TIME WILL BE 0700 AT JUSTIN SIENNA HIGH SCHOOL NAPA, CA. IF CHANGES OCCUR, YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED.
