Half Marathon, 5-Miler, and 5K Walk/Run – Now with a new, flatter course without that dang hill! And a new date for better weather and an even prettier run.
Runners and walkers come from far and wide and can’t say enough about the homespun flavor of this race, the challenging but scenic course, and the enthusiasm of the volunteers. Heck, the race, now in its fifth year, even has its own theme song. Whether they run the half marathon with its views of the lake and countryside or sprint through the 5K, which benefits Girls of the Run, most leave saying they’ll be back. Proceeds from the Half benefit the Christian Appalachian Project.
Renfro Valley, Kentucky, home of the world-famous entertainment left and the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame, is known for its music, from Bluegrass to classic country to rock. Rockcastle County is home to a rock-solid, enthusiastic bunch who has taken to running and dare you to keep up. On Saturday, October 20th they want to share the road, and their countryside, with you.
You’ll dash past rustic cabins, trot alongside a beautiful lake for five full miles, and pass through some of Kentucky’s prettiest farmscapes. You’ll be rewarded for your journey at our unique finish area, where you’ll emerge from an under-road tunnel to lively music and a crowd of cheering by-standers in the heart of the Renfro Village.
Half marathon participants will receive a commemorative dry fit long-sleeve race shirt and all finishers will receive a finishers medal. Both 5-Miler and 5K participants receive a dry fit short sleeve shirt. Chip timing is provided by 3 Way Racing. Awards include overall & age group awards.
Sign up by Monday, October 15 to ensure you get a commemorative shirt (shirt not guaranteed after this date).
