About This Activity

Mt. Pleasant Santa Train is a group of hardworking volunteers that work with local schools to identify families who may not have the resources to provide Christmas for their children. These children are able to meet Santa and Ms. Claus as they arrive from the North Pole via Tennessee Southern Railroad to distribute gifts. The Santa Train works much like the well known angel program. However, the children's clothes sizes and a wish list item are listed on trains and distributed in the community to be selected by individuals and businesses. We try to provide a set of school uniform appropriate clothing (including shoes) and a wish list item the child requests. Our biggest fundraisers are the Arrow Lake 5k at the Mid-South BBQ festival the third weekend in October and our HO HO Hustle 5k held the first weekend in December. The funds from these races help provide volunteers the ability to shop for gifts and clothing for the children's names that are not selected. This program was started in 2012 with the hopes of providing for 50 children. That year we were able to give joy to 230 children, in 2013 we provided for 290. Last year in 2014 we were able to assist 348 children. Please be part of our efforts in reaching our goal in 2015.
