About This Activity

The second annual Mind and Body 5K walk & run, hosted by Wedgewood Family Practice, will take place at 12:30 PM on Sunday October 19th, 2014.

Mind and Body 5K walk will start at 12:30 PM and the run will start at 1 PM

The start of the race will take place at the back parking lot of the Suncrest Wedgewood Family Practice building, which is located at the following address:
1197 Van Voorhis Rd Morgantown, WV 26505

Benefits: To promote both physical and mental health in the Morgantown area, the Mind and Body 5K will split the proceeds equally between the Cure Kids Cancer Fun and the Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center (RDVIC).

Cure Kids Cancer Fund, a part of the West Virginia University Foundation, provides gas cards, accommodations and other things a family may need while their child is in the children’s hospital at WVU. You may have seen their “Cards of Hope” that are used during Christmas time and are made by the children dealing with cancer and are in for an extended stay at the Children’s Hospital. The Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center (RDVIC) is a 24 hour crisis hotline that runs as a non-profit agency. They continue to help those victimized by rape and domestic violence by providing shelter, counseling and support groups to those need - all funded by donations and volunteers. Registration: you can register online for $20. To register online, follow the instructions on this page. All those who register before 10/3/14 will receive a T-shirt. You can also register the day of the race for $25.

Packet pick-up: will be in the back parking lot of Wedgewood Family Practice. Registration and Packet pick-up starts at 11:30 AM Sunday and ends at 12:15 PM.

Course: The 5k course is a rolling course that is mostly out and back, with a small loop near the halfway point.

Timing: provided by Miles and Smiles timing services

Kid’s stuff: there will be a half mile fun run for children under twelve years old. Every participant to registers by 10/3/14 will be guaranteed a finishers ribbon.

Other: to ensure your safety there no dogs allowed on the course.

T-shirts: those registered by 10/3/14 for the 5k race are guaranteed a T-shirt. Those participating in the kid’s fun run do not receive t-shirts.

Prizes: There will be medals for the first three male and female finishers overall for the walk and run. For the 5K run, there will be medals for the first female and male finisher in the following age groups :
14 and under, 15 - 24, 29-34, 35-44, 45 -54, 55 and over

All participants in the fun run get participation ribbons.
