About This Activity
Offering one of few opportunities to swim in an ocean race on the Eastern seaboard, the July 25, 2015 Montauk Ocean Swim Challenge is now in its 7th year. The event is organized by the Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation and the East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue squad as a fundraiser for the construction of an aquatic left at the Montauk Playhouse Community Center. The challenge offers three distance categories – the ½ mile, 1 mile and a 5K – for swimmers of all ages and abilities, making it appropriate for youth recreational and competitive swimmers, and everyone in between. Racers swim along Montauk’s majestic oceanfront and end at the popular Ditch Plains Beach. Check-in is held at Ditch Plains Beach.
