Missouri City Parks & Recreation is proud to benefit Stand Up 2 Cancer with our first ever 5K, The Superhero Run! The 5K course will begin at the Missouri City Municipal Complex on Texas Parkway, continue down Buffalo Run to Fondren, with runners finishing the race in Hunter's Trail Park. The event will include an awesome post-race party featuring breakfast and plenty of entertainment for the kids! Costumes are a must for this themed run, so pull out your capes, masks, and superhero swag to support a great cause!
Stand Up To Cancer’s (SU2C) mission is to raise funds to accelerate the pace of groundbreaking translational research that can get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now. SU2C brings together the best and the brightest researchers and mandates collaboration among the cancer community. By galvanizing the entertainment industry, SU2C has set out to generate awareness, educate the public on cancer prevention and help more people diagnosed with cancer become long-term survivors.
Cancer takes one person every minute. One life in a moment. They are our brothers, our sisters, our fathers and mothers, our husbands and wives, our best friends, our children, ourselves. Every day in America 1500 people die despite the fact that the means to save them are literally within our reach. To wait any longer for someone else to save our lives and the lives of those we love is unforgivable. We must act now.
This is where the end of cancer begins: when we unite in one movement, unstoppable. For more information about Stand Up To Cancer and its programs, you can visitsu2c.org.
We are encouraging all Superhero Run participants to be a true superhero and stand with us in the fight against cancer. There are two ways to stand with us:
