About This Activity

Milford Prevention Council and the Woodruff Family YMCA invite you and your family to help us create tomorrow’s superheroes! Transform into your inner Superhero at the 2nd Annual Superhero 5K Fun Run & Family Day! This event is family-friendly and heroes of all ages are invited to participate.

The Superhero 5K Fun Run is a 3-mile long racecourse is a scenic loop of a quiet Milford neighborhood during the start of autumn. It starts in the Woodruff Family YMCA driveway and heads out toward Woodruff Road, and then turns onto Burnt Plains Road to continue the loop back to the finish line that is inside the YMCA parking lot. There are a couple of small hills, the elevation level changes no more that 61 feet during the race, and there are few curves and turns on this course.

Prior to the start of the race all 5K runners will be given a bib, and a wristband, which grants them entry to the Family Day area and the first 200 runners who registered online will receive their free superhero capes! Any runner who registers the day of the event will be required to sign a waiver at the registration table. All participating 5K runners will be given special goodie bags filled with items from our sponsors after the race has concluded. All final race times will be posted online for viewing and emailed out the race participants.

All Family Day attendees will be given colored wristbands in order to gain entry to the Family Day area. Any attendee who registers the day of the event will be required to sign a waiver at the registration table.

After the race kicks off the Family Day area will open, and will remain open to till the end of the event at noon. There will be bounce houses, arts & crafts, face-painting, fun games and an obstacle for the younger ones. There will also be a DJ, Photographer, and, of course, REAL-LIFE SUPERHEROES! Awards will be given out to the 5K runners with the best race times after which there will be a costume parade and costume contest for runners and family day attendees alike. All the awards will be handed out by the Superheroes! 

With this event Milford Prevention Council and the Woodruff Family YMCA aims to encourage healthy lifestyles and activities within the Milford community and inspire people to remember they are each a superhero who can overcome any obstacle.

             Family Day area opens! (arts & crafts, face painting, obstacle course, etc.)

Course Information: 

The course(s) will be well-marked with directional signs, mile markers and volunteers, and there will be motorcycle escorts leading the race and following the last runner. There will a police vehicle manning the start and finish line intersection.

The 5K will be supported by two water stations at approximately the halfway mark and another at the finish line area. Please note: If the weather is hot and humid it is recommended you remain hydrated before, during and after the race.

 Rules and Regulations:

  • Entry fees are non-refundable. 
  • No-shows will not be mailed there capes or goodie bags. 
  • Runners must complete the course in one and a half hours. 
  • Walker Etiquette: Please be courteous; move over to sides of the roads when runners approach and let them have the right of way and quickest way past.
  • All attendees are required to sign the waiver form, online or at the registration table. 
  • All attendees, both the runners and family day only participants -young and old alike, are required to wear the provided wristbands at all times at the event. 

What to wear: 

Superhero costumes and themed clothing is strongly encouraged as there will be a costume parade and contest after the 5K awards have been given out.
