About This Activity
The first time was such a great success and so much fun, that we are doing it again. In 2016, we promise to be a bigger, better and a 5k event. The Voices for Cerebral Palsy – Bows & Bowties 5k – A Community Tied Together for CP.
The event will be Family-Friendly, Kid-Friendly and fully accessible. The 5k will start at Coral Reef Park and wind through the beautiful Village of Palmetto Bay. This will be a timed event managed by SPLIT SECOND TIMING.
This 5k will once again serve as the “kick-off” of Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, which takes place in March, and is now officially recognized in the State of Florida; thanks to Commissioner Juan C. Zapata, State Representative Eric Fresen and Senator Raul Garcia.
This event is the only fundraiser that Voices for Cerebral Palsy organizes throughout the year. The net proceeds from this event will be used to fund grants to individuals and organizations that strengthen, support & nurture individuals with Cerebral Palsy and to fund the “Memory Makers” initiative.

HOW DO I CREATE A TEAM FOR THIS EVENT?
Creating a team for this event is encouraged. The team divisions include, but are not limited to, the following:
These teams are lead by family members and friends whose lives have been personally touched by Cerebral Palsy usually lead family Teams. All family teams will receive 35% of the money raised by their team to be used in support of the one individual that they are representing with Cerebral Palsy. This is the “GIVE BACK” program. The 35% “GIVE BACK” MONEY will be paid directly to the service provider or school that the family team requests. We are also allowing the family team to make a request that the 35% Give Back Money be used to provide the individual with a "MEMORY MAKER" experience. For more detailed information, contact us at INFO@VOICESFORCEREBRALPALSY.ORG with your questions.
Companies that want to support Cerebral Palsy create Company/Corporate teams. These companies are made up of coworkers and their family/friends. The corporate team may or may not have a personal connection to Cerebral Palsy, but may want to help make a difference.
All schools (public or private) in Miami-Dade that start a school team will receive 35% of the money raised by their team to be used in support of special needs programming and services at the school that will directly impact individuals with Cerebral Palsy. Eligibility for this “GIVE BACK” program requires the School Team Captain providing us with a letter from the school principal or administrator – on school letterhead – allowing permission for this team to be started and that the funds received will be used strictly to support special needs programming for the school that will directly impact children with Cerebral Palsy.
Local non-profits that provide direct services to individuals with Cerebral Palsy can receive 35% of the money raised by their team to be used to support programs at their organization that individuals with Cerebral Palsy can partake in. To register for this “GIVE BACK” program please email us directly a copy of your 501(c)(3) .
