Jewish Community Center Indoor/Outdoor Triathlon
Get the triathlon season started with the Jewish Community Center’s First Annual Indoor/Outdoor Triathlon. An untraditional sprint distance, this triathlon will include a 10- minute swim, a 30-minute bike and a 20 minute run. This fun and supportive race is great for everyone from seasoned triathletes who want to test their training early in the season to beginners looking to try out their first triathlon.
This race is open to both members and non-members. The price will include a race tee-shirt, cap, and race bib.
The first heat of racers will begin at 9am on Sunday morning. After registration closes we will provide everyone with their specific heat and start time - we ask that you show up at least 30 minutes prior.
Scoring is done on a curve from 1 to 100. Racers that go the longest distances in the swim and bike and the fastest time in the run will receive the highest amount of points. Each leg will be graded individually and equally. Final results will be an aggregate of the points scored in all three events. Transition times are fixed between events and do not count toward participants’ scores.
The swim portion will be held in our 4-lane 25-yard pool and will be scored by distance swum. There will be no more than two swimmers per lane and each heat of racers will begin at the same time. We will use a whistle to signal the end of the ten minutes. For racers who complete further than halfway down the pool will be credit for ½ a lap. Swimmers will not be able to use any equipment other than a swimsuit, cap and goggles.
Athletes will have 10 minutes to use our locker rooms to change into their cycling and running clothes, to walk to the cycling area and to adjust their bikes.
The bike is 30 minutes long and will be scored by distance recorded on our bike computers. This portion will be held on our stationary bikes - you do not need to bring a bike or helmet!
Racers will be given 5 minutes to transition from the bike to the run. This time will include any apparel or shoe changes and the time it takes to walk over to the designated running area.
The run will be held outside on our .5-mile trail. Racers will complete as many laps as possible in 20 minutes.
