About This Activity

XTERRA Hickory Knob has moved! No....not the great venue at Hickory Knob State Park in McCormick, SC...but the date! Trail runs are on October 15; the triathlon on October 16, 2016. Why the change? Fall is a great time in this part of the world. We are hoping for warmer water and better weather than we've had in the early Spring. Winding down the season, test your skills and fitness while grabbing early 2017 points! Going to Maui for the World Championships? This is your warm up event!

Hickory Knob offers a great location for this XTERRA. A 750 meter swim; 14.4 mile mountain bike; and a 5 mile run (with a downhill finish) on Sunday is what it takes to conquer the course. Want to add to it? Jump into one of the trail races on Saturday. You can pick your poison with distances ranging from 5K to 50K. Register to race both days and you'll get a discount when compared to registering separately! Got friends who'd rather not swim and/or ride? You can do a relay! Or, they can sign up for just the Saturday trail runs! (Note, to register for JUST the trail runs, there is a different active.com page and an ultrasignup.com page.)

Be sure to check out our web site www.multisportfitnessllc.com (currently being updated) and Multisport Fitness, LLC and XTERRA Carolina Challenge Facebook pages for info and updates!

This is a fun race at a great location. Camping and cabins are available. Call Hickory Knob State Park for accommodation reservations at 864-391-5390. Check out www.hickoryknobresort.com for park information, directions, etc....

Please note: there are no refunds for these events!

See you in October...if not before!

Event details and schedule

Packet pick up for the Saturday trail events will be at the end of Campfire Road, Hickory Knob State Park on race morning ONLY from 6:30 am-7:30 am. The 5k starts at 7:30 am. All of the other trail races start immediately following the 5K...around 8:00 am. PLEASE NOTE that for this year, ALL races will begin and end at the end of Campfire Road! We will not be using the parking lot for or the grounds of The Long Cane Center on Saturday as we have in the past. So, no parking at Long Cane on Saturday! Parking will be along Campfire Road and in the campground area. (There is a conflict with park scheduling for Saturday! This DOES NOT apply on Sunday!)

Packet pick up for the triathlon will be on Saturday afternoon from 5-7:30 pm at the Lodge (where you check in---not the Long Cane Center); and, from 6:30 am-7:15 am at the end of Campfire Road, Hickory Knob State Park. The first swimmers will hit the water as close to 7:30 am as possible! This is a USAT race and either an annual or day of USAT license is required! You cannot have someone pick up your race packet for you (sorry) and you'll have to have some form of picture ID and proof of the USAT license. (Note: distinctive tatoos---though I'm sure we'd enjoy seeing them---are NOT deemed an acceptable form of ID.)

We send e-mail updates to all registered racers for whom we have "good" e-mail addresses (so be sure you enter your "good" e-mail address or update with active.com as may be needed) and we update the website and Facebook pages (Multisport Fitness, LLC and XTERRA Carolina Challenge) as we get closer to race date so don't be stressin' about race stuff.

A NOTE ABOUT THE BIKE COURSE: Should there be rain within 24-36 hours of the race, the bike portion may be held on the paved roads in the park. This is a call that is made solely by park officials and is in keeping with an effort to maintain the integrity of the trails! Please let us apologize in advance should such become the case on race day BUT it will still be deemd an XTERRA race and 2017 points will be awarded accordingly! Regardless, there will be no refunds!!

Thanks for racing with us!!
