About This Activity

The 2nd annual McChord Field First Sergeant Fitness Challenge takes place on Joint Base Lewis-McChord.  This event is unlike any other event in the nation as it consists of individual and combined events.  You can compete individually in a point-to-point 5K run, a push-up challenge, or a sit-up challenge.  If you dare, you can register for the Individual or Team Fitness Trifecta where you will compete in all three categories.
The McChord First Sergeant Fitness Challenge is one of the most unique whole body challenges in the nation!!  There is no current participant limit, but register early to take advantage of early bird pricing.  The first 90 to register will get an event T-shirt!

Competition Information

The Individual/Team 5K run begins with an easy descent and a few curves as the course allows the runners to view Mt Rainer and the McChord Field airfield.  The last leg consists of the beginning ascent back to the finish line!  Each team member must run a leg (distance is up to team strategy) of the 5K.

The individual push-up and sit-up challenges allow competitors to crush out as many Air Force style push-ups or sit-ups as they can in a 10 minute time period.  Team competitors in the Trifecta can swap in/out of the push-ups/sit-ups in any strategy they choose, but will only be allowed one person in motion at a time.  Teams will be limited to a 20 minute time period.

The Individual and Team Fitness Trifecta allows competitors to crush all three events:  the 5K Run, push-ups, and sit-ups. Teams must have no less than three, no more than five, participants.

1100 – Refreshments/Recognition Ceremony


Non- Military Civilians Arrival Schedule

Non-Military Affiliated Civilians will need to be pre-coordinated for entrance into the base.  All civilians are required a valid state driver's license or identification cards. All vehicles entering JBLM are required proof of current insurance and valid registration.  On Race Day, all civilians requiring access to the base will need to be at the McChord Field Main Base entrance no later than 0700 for access.


Food and Drinks

On race day, water, and fruit will be available to participants.  Highly encourage all to bring their own water or hydration systems as well.
